One possible solution is to file for bankruptcy.

Bankruptcy is a legal process which eliminates debt and stops the collection calls. The two most common forms of bankruptcy are Chapter 7 and 13. Chapter 7 wipes out debt while Chapter 13 allows for the creation of a repayment plan of your debts.

Chapter 7 Bankruptcy

Chapter 7 is also known as the liquidation bankruptcy, where your debt is discharged. Usually, dischargeable debt includes credit cards, medical bills, car repossession, unsecured debts, real estate foreclosures, and certain IRS debts. However, not all debts are dischargeable. Debts which are generally not dischargeable are: spousal support, child support, recent IRS debt, student loans, traffic fines, and criminal case restitution.
