Chapter 7 is also known as the liquidation bankruptcy, where your debt is discharged. Usually, dischargeable debt includes credit cards, medical bills, car repossession, unsecured debts, real estate foreclosures, and certain IRS debts. However, not all debts are dischargeable. Debts which are generally not dischargeable are: spousal support, child support, recent IRS debt, student loans, traffic fines, and criminal case restitution.
